Layer shift on one axis around the same height

0

I have tried searching and tried various troubleshooting suggestions to no end. I keep getting a shift in the X-axis around the same height (give or take a few layers).

My mainboard fan was broken so I have since replaced it with an OEM fan with the same specs.

I have tried reformatting the SD card

I have rechecked the tension on the belts and they are now even tighter than previously.

I tried shifting the print down to start the print around the troubled area to save filament, and the problem does not appear (leading me to believe it's not a G-code issue).

I even rotated the print 90° to see if it follows the orientation, but the results are only the X-axis is affected.

I have one last troubleshooting step to try before I run out of ideas, which is adding a z-hop. During printing I occasionally hear the nozzle scrapping across the infill during travel, but I don't understand how that can only affect one layer. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

We need more details, like which printer, which firmware flavor and revision, what print speeds, etc. – Davo – 2020-06-29T11:13:49.507

3You have a mechanical issue, probably the Z screws or linear guide. The problem is present at a fixed height increase. – 0scar – 2020-06-29T14:15:06.530

1Or a cable positioned such that it hooks at that height – Trish – 2021-02-26T08:18:33.590
