Scraps (batter)

Scraps is a term used in England which refers to deep-fried batter that is left over in the fryer as a by-product of frying fish and is served as an accompaniment to chips.[1] They are traditionally served free of charge with chips in fish and chip shops.[2] Some places charge for the scraps though. In some parts of the North, they are referred to as 'bits', 'dubs'. In most parts of the South West it’s commonly known as ‘Gribbles’ [3] They can be found in Leeds.[4]
