Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists is an upcoming American teen drama television series developed by I. Marlene King. The series is a sequel to Pretty Little Liars and based on the novel The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard. Freeform ordered the series to pilot on September 25, 2017, as the second spin-off series of Pretty Little Liars which will include some of the main characters.[6] Freeform picked up the series for a 10-episode first season on May 14, 2018.[7]

  • Sydney Park as Caitlin Martell-Lewis: The intelligent, motivated and easy-on-the-eyes daughter of two over-achieving mothers, one of whom is a United States senator, Caitlin is an expert at hiding secrets. She hopes to follow in her mother’s political footsteps — that is, if the weight of her own secrets doesn’t crush her first.[11]
  • Eli Brown as Dylan: A prodigious cellist who used his passion for music to escape his small-minded hometown, Dylan loves his music almost as much as he loves his boyfriend, Andrew.[12]
  • Jacques Colimon as Andrew: Dylan’s “nerd-chic” boyfriend is deeply committed to his architectural studies, spending what little free time he has cooking and being with Dylan.
  • Chris Mason as Nolan Hotchkiss: A natural born leader, Nolan is the heir to his family’s empire. Though he puts forth the image of a golden boy, Nolan is actually a manipulator who uses his friends and family to maintain his image. Not a big fan of authority figures or the word “no,” Nolan isn’t used to losing.
  • Kelly Rutherford as Claire Hotchkiss: The matriarch of the Hotchkiss family, Claire along with her husband is the founder of Hotchkiss Industries and the respected Beacon Heights University. She believes perfection is attainable and is the person who pulls the strings behind the scenes to get what she wants.[11]
  • Graeme Thomas King as Jeremy Beckett: A handsome Brit with more abs than you can count with just your fingers, Jeremy is also described as “charming and witty.” He’s also an intelligent scientist working for Hotchkiss Industries.[13]

Production

Freeform ordered the show to pilot on September 25, 2017, as a sequel to Pretty Little Liars and the second spin-off series following Ravenswood.[6] The show has been picked up to series,[7] it will be set to premiere in January 2019. Though the date is subject to change.[15]

Casting

On September 25, 2017, it was announced that Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish had been cast to reprise their roles from mother series Pretty Little Liars as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal, respectively.[6] On January 29, 2018, it was announced that Sofia Carson had been cast in the role of Ava, one of the series' protagonists.[9]

On March 9 several cast members were announced with Deadline Hollywood announcing that Kelly Rutherford best known for CW's Gossip Girl will be playing Claire Hotchkiss.[16] Furthermore, it was announced that Sydney Park best known for her role on The Walking Dead will be playing Caitlin Martell-Lewis, the newcomer Eli Brown will be playing Dylan, and Hayley Erin will be playing a "mysterious, unnamed role".[12]

Filming

On January 23, 2018, it was announced that the series would be filmed in Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest.[5] King confirmed on Twitter filming will start in March 2018.[17] Production started on February 27, 2018, with a table read for the pilot.[18] Filming for the pilot started on March 12, 2018,[19] and wrapped in the last week of the same month.[20]

Release

Marketing

On May 14, 2018, the first teaser was released.[21] On June 21, 2018, the first official trailer was released on Facebook and Instagram pages of the show.[22]
